I find it very refreshing that a company provides such high-quality software for free, and even creates free guides on how to use it.
I started with the free version running on Linux but unfortunately didn't support H.264 (it does on windows, I believe) and I had to do lots of converting of formats, which both wasted time and space.
I ended up getting the speed editor and studio version.
