author here, Finding higher abstractions ultimately is about being able to draw parallels amongst a wider variety of concepts. It doesn't change the concrete thing / the lower levels of abstractions in the least, and it often makes sense to stay at that lower level when communicating or getting things done. Plus I personally enjoy it and I feel it gives me a much wider array of things to draw from when designing / thinking. It broadens my toolbox, even if at the end of the day, all I do is hammer nails.
