Ahh, I just reread _Soul_! One thing I noticed this time through was the politics and (mostly absent?) leadership from the executives. E.g., the input from the CEO was basically "no mode bit".
I couldn't appreciate those things on the first pass as a young engineer.

The joy of rereading a good book, it hasn't changed but I have.
