Eight glasses of water a day may be too much (bbc.co.uk)

So when David Mitchell advised us to have "slightly less than two drinks"[1] he was referring dihydrogen monoxide[2]? ;-)

In all seriousness, this is anecdotal, but speaking as a former Subway sandwich artist from the Atkins era turned PhD dropout who has kept his goal weight long enough he's sitting in a coffeeshop sketching out tattoo designs in what folks used to call his "gay little hipster notebook", I suspect it's less about the number of glasses, but avoiding sodium rich foods paired drinking enough water when thirsty that your urine is clear rather than some magical variable.

I hope folks take moments like these during the holiday season to focus on what makes them feel healthy, and not slide down a road to mental illness as they chase ever changing metrics from the BBC or whatever.

(I'm not English, and I wake up thankful for that every day. I'm off to reread the site guidelines since the admins were kind enough to reset my password.)

Thanks for sharing the scientific article OP!!

- Greg.
