I've noticed in recent years that if the press likes you they will rarely if ever ask critical questions. If the press doesn't like you they will try to crucify you, even if you've done nothing wrong.
As someone who obtained a Journalism degree in the seventies that wasn't how we were taught. We were told to question everyone equally and to always be skeptical of what we were told but couldn't verify. That's one of the reason that I am fond of Charlie LeDuff, the Pulitzer prize winning journalist, who is a skeptics skeptic.
