I am so uninterested in sending my data to a third party or paying rent, I've been interested to start playing around in this space for a long time and I'm incredibly thankful for emad and crew doing their best to democratize access to this stuff and fulfill openai's original promises. OpenAI is a grift as far as I'm concerned and I'm really hoping that Stability makes them completely irrelevant.
DALL-E dropped the ball. They had the tech and the hype surrounding their product but blew the lead to Midjourney and Stable Diffusion. Their GTM and pricing/monetization team should be ashamed of what they've done here.
You can use Stable Diffusion on google colab[0] for free, and if you pay for the subscription you can generate several thousand images for $10 worth of credits, additionally you can opt to use a whole A100 40gig to make larger images, or spit out 512x512 at like 3 seconds per image for really rapid exploration. No reason to use midjourney at all, and in fact ethically it's better not to imo.
It's a shame that my country is not considered part of the public. I applied when this thing launched, didn't get any invite. I tried to use it when it "launched for everyone", but nope, your country is naughty for some F reason. (BTW, I'm from Egypt)
With all the excitement around Stable Diffusion, it’s nice to have an easy API to plug into for product development.
The API supports three endpoints (generation, edits, and variation), but doesn’t support fine-tunes - which are capturing peoples attention now with deepfake avatars.
