The Economist deliberately does not put bylines on the vast majority of content - it’s not sinister.

I’m pretty sure The Economist never attributes an author in their articles. The author is supposed to be “The Economist”


Not entirely correct, their "by invitation" columns are named, e.g: https://www.economist.com/by-invitation/2022/10/28/frances-f...

But for the bulk of their articles, yes, the Economist is famous for its anonymous bylines.


Same as Tyler Durdan writing all that stuff for Zerohedge iirc.

It makes somewhat of a sense if you’re trying to disconnect the message from the speaker.


Or that dredmorbius guy on HN.

(Among numerous others.)


Thats their thing, they dont credit any articles.
