@dang please make the black bar clickable and link to the appropriate post, every time it is displayed we have a similar thread.

Funny, you're right of course, I looked for it to share with the poster and I couldn't find it and had to use search. It was only after seeing your comment that I went back and found it there.

Anyway, one can always search "has died" ordered by date, as that seems to be the standard HN headline when someone passes

I kind of wish HN would just make the bar a link to the thread, that'd be unobtrusive but still answer the question.
