Not everyone up-votes because they agree with something. It's perfectly reasonable to up-vote something with the hopes that it hits the front page because you feel it will spawn an interesting discussion that you want to read and/or participate in.
Exactly, that is why, when i saw it with more than 20 votes but not a single comment that i dared to ask, honestly, why were they upvoting; I wanted to know the reasons. As you say, it can be for many different reasons, and I was interested in what the community thought about this.
Sadly, that meant I could be misunderstood, and in fact I was downvoted for just asking, in the first comment on the new, to please know the REASONS the others were upvoting.
