Weaponised incompetence can be poetically beautiful and is equally a
worthy counter to the systematic incompetence of Soviet COSPLAN as
late stage self-devouring Capitalism. The more pompous and rigid the
system the more readily it buckles in the face of one well-timed
tactical "misunderstanding".
The Good Soldier Svejk by Jaroslav Hasek epitomises the stance, a form
of political Judo, where one goes happily and enthusiastically along
with the abusive regime waiting for the perfect moment to tie it's
shoelaces together with it's own logic.
Perhaps it is something Americans, with a sincere Protestant work
ethic, find a bit difficult to appreciate, but the Czechs, as the
Poles, having been invaded by one insane, chaotic regime after another
for hundreds of years, have internalised it as "Svejkism". Never
misunderestimate a clever idiot.
