I began this in late September purely on the whims of frustration with thesaurus.com, which does not bother to focus the input box! So I made my own site that focuses the input box. And because I wanted a thesaurus where I could type just the word in the address bar eg carefulwords.com/word to get my results.
It is very rough around the edges right now. There are far too many synonyms, which themselves are only organized alphabetically. It also does not solve some of my original problems with thesauruses, so I may take the site in a very different direction over time.
I think it should be possible to make something like a thesaurus that grants a bit more inspiration to the searcher. Now what would a thesaurus need to do that?
I wanted to say - I’ve used GPT3 before when a normal thesaurus fails me… I think it’s possible to find a solution with that kind of technology to get more information for the user than a normal dictionary based approach achieves.
