Here's a piece of system fragility I think we pay too little attention to: the role of water in generative infrastructure.


Without the one child policy, there would be an additional 300 million people to feed. The policy is looking a lot more farsighted now.

The philosophy of infinite growth is now being tested.

There is this idea that we can just innovate our way out of every problem, but we forget, whatever problem we have is multiplied by 8 billion. That is a very challenging constraint.


Oh... I honestly believe we could if it was a coherent effort of all people and countries but the way it is now? No, not at all.


Is there anything particularly significant about this year in particular that makes these heatwaves more likely aside from the general trendline of climate change?


So does this mean inflation isn’t coming down once the Russia-Ukraine war ends?
