Why not put option 2 on another cpu, that way you will only get minimalistic interrupts to the main workload?

Sure. But that doesn’t solve the schedulability problem. You’d still have to prove that the GC task completes soon enough. What does soon enough mean? All of the hard things I mentioned. Parallelism may help with provisioning but it doesn’t reduce the proof burden.
