Amazon knows exactly what they're doing with this. Prime Video is a crap service on its own, but it isn't bad for "free" and means when you do buy/rent a movie you do it there.



It's not free though, the subscription went up by about 100% when they launched Prime Video.


Yep, but I suspect that for most people the "free prime shipping" is valued at 110% of the price, and the video/music at basically nothing.

Amazon apparently thinks Prime Video is worth $9/mo as you can subscribe to that alone (not that anyone does).


I would take the tenner discount if I had the option to be honest, even though it's still worse value than pre-Video Prime.
