I have not run into such issues, but as I understand Kindle/Kobo don't use capacitive touchscreens but instead Infrared ones. Whatever be the case they can be triggered by almost anything (say a piece of wooden pencil) or oils on your fingers. So I'm not surprised that high moisture does the trick.

I recall Nooks had issue with ghost touches (often due to minimal moist), are the kindles similarly sensitive?
