Does anyone know some work in the opposite direction, that is, running OSX applications with x86 CPUs? I'm seeing a lot of effort with making the Apple's hardware to be universal and run everything else (like Asahi Linux and Rosetta), while I can only imagine how impossible it is becoming to emulate the M1/ARM and run a hackintosh.




What for? There's just Apple software and a few niche things.

Simply not possible. Apple Silicon is ARMv8, but with a number of their own custom extensions on top of it.


They still make Intel macs, right? So it's not impossible.
