I'm not sure it's clairvoyance so much as risk management. They see a possible future in which they are unable to survive at current spend, and based on conservative management principles they've decided to make the tough decisions that keep corporate failure out of the set of reasonably foreseeable outcomes.

Realistically, if they could actually predict the crypto market, they wouldn't need to worry about money period.
