The solution is not having any form of "winner takes it all" voting for anything with a lot of power.

Due to the dynamics it creates "winner takes it all" is fundamentally undemocratic.

Through that would be a fundamental change in US politics on all levels, so it's a bit too much to ask for.

And a bit tricky wrt. the president.
