The video compression that Netflix did not invent is h.264 that was invented in the 90s. Just like VRML.

I wasn't saying that
everything
invented in the 90s is now a relic. Lots of technology from then has stood the test of time and is still useful. But VRML is not one of them! It wasn't any good even at the time.
