Christopher Alexander passed away a few weeks ago on March, 17 2022. If you're looking to read more about his life's work I recommend this overview

https://dorian.substack.com/p/at-any-given-moment-in-a-proce...

One way of understanding Alexander's life and work is that he asked a few important and simple questions, and went through many investigations through research and practice to develop different perspectives and frames to provide answers. He was continuously evolving his approach and experimenting to learn and develop a deeper understanding.

Read Alexander if you're interested in questions like:

- Why are old buildings better (more beautiful, more life affirming)?

Which led him to the question of:

- What is real? What is reality?

His own answers to these questions run counter to materialistic modern ideas, and so this puts his work at odds with his contemporaries. Myself, I believe he was a great among mortals, and that his work will prove immortal.

Thank you for this additional information. I had never heard of the man or his work but deeply appreciate the unique and (surprisingly?) affirming perspective.

I would love to hear comments on the mentioned work "The Nature of Order: An Essay on the Art of Building and the Nature of the Universe" from anyone here who has read it. It sounds very intriguing.

Thanks! Is there a specific series in there that you recommend? It looks like a huge archive to go through, and clicking around it seems like many of them are broken.
