Vizio TVs are now showing banner ads over live TV
Apple TV doesn't. Never has. Likely never will. Apple has no incentive to indulge in that kind of behavior.

I don’t love the Apple TV (especially the remote), but every TV in the house has one connected. It makes watching TV tolerable. Not great, but at least tolerable

I agree 100%. I remember using it for the first time in the house, being pleasantly surprised that I could see which side was up :)
