I don’t accept a world where people and businesses can’t both choose whether the use cash or eCash for any transaction.

I think diversity is good. Have some cash in case the ATMs fail for a week, have credit cards for day to day convenience.

Privacy issues are also a huge issue but most people choose to ignore them.
