I've got a few associate level aws certifications recently and started interviewing again. I though the certifications would be a game changer but I pretty much had to casually drop that information on interviews and suffocate the pain of having no big reactions to it.
It's was very underwhelming, and I'd like to know more about people who are certified, what did it change in your life? Were you able to leverage that to a better salary, job, contracts, etc?

Once you're in the interview the focus is no longer on "knows how to use X" but on "knows how to use X well", which besides technical trick questions to try to suss out whether you really understand the stuff you were tested on for the cert, also includes things like communication skills/style, handling disagreements and conflict, prioritizing, triage, etc.
Basically, not just can you do the work, but can you do the right work, and can you get stuff done.
