What an amazing moment. I've seen some of Chaplin's earliest films, and his development from there to the Great Dictator is astounding.

If you want to understand the Chaplin phenomenon - mostly forgotten now, but a leading star of his time - watch some of his earliest films. His wit and ability, all physical (well before talkies), is a joy and genius to behold.
