Knitting is a hobby with a very low barrier of entry, that really anyone can do (given the time and $10 for tools and materials to start). Yes, if you want to know the name of the sheep that gave wool for your sweater, things can become expensive, but so can be every other hobby, if you complicate things enough.

Then someone comes, does something, someone else doesn't like it, and bam, a racist card is played... why? I know it's $current_year, but it's knitting... what does race have to do with knitting?



I was just contemplating the other post about the knitting community being notoriously toxic. I wonder if it's more susceptible to trolling, and these people (internet trolls) who want to make everything about race and gender etc. come in an walk all over the community because it's a low-stakes hobby with lots of casual, nice, participants who don't put up a fuss?
