While I think the article is something to consider -- this could be because I'm reading David Mamet stuff just because -- I think a lot of this falls away if you have a good story which perhaps matter more than whatever CGI or not you're using.
E.g. I personally find myself dissatisfied with a lot of Marvel, probably because most of the movies are "cocky guy gets taken down a peg by someone who's kind of in the family and kind of not, but definitely wins in the end anyway."
