I think the truth is the exact opposite: the biggest proponents of white board interviews are FAANG who have extensive data on the hiring process and realized that these interviews are the least discriminatory. 'Traditional' chatting or behavioral interviews are biased because the interviewers will often preder candidates they find likeable.
