Why Vivaldi will never create ThinkCoin (vivaldi.com)

My goodness, I love Vivaldi browser so hard. Been using them for years; they blew me away from the start, and they continue to do so.

“Shut up and take my money!”

PS I'm not affiliated with Vivaldi, I just think they deserve all the donations they get since they didn't succumb to an easy cash grab.

Meanwhile, Brave does have their BAT (Basic Attention Token). Was this a cash grab? Or an attempt to develop new economic models for the web? One can make a good argument for Brave being able to bootstrap and fund a new browser with this. There are folks all thru the stack making money here.

Based on this guys understanding of the space, I don't think they are going to make it. More virtue signaling that they are not part of the revolution. No problem, lets see where it goes.

Vivaldi has also funded a new browser and are making money through it.

Further, the team behind has done it once before at a time where the browser environment was also much more difficult. You couldn’t just embed Blink to handle all your rendering.

And they didn’t dip into what may be a scam or involved stealing money from content owners.

The Brave token actually represents value at least. You engage with an ad, you get rewarded, the advertiser is happy you clicked - there is really nothing nebulous, confusing or shady going on there.
