I'd be completely unsurprised if in 10-years Zig was the toolchain of choice for low-level systems programming and there were Linux forks containing Zig code used by used by hundred of millions of people.




Yes, I was thinking about it recently, there's an initiative to integrate Rust into the Linux kernel, but it's going to be tough: Rust isn't a simple language to learn.. But I expect lots of "grassroot" experimentations with Zig inside Linux once Zig reach 1.0, and in theory there will be much less resistance from kernel devs due to the simplicity of learning Zig.. Of course Zig bring less than Rust from a memory safety POV..
