I saw the movie the other day, it's extremely well done. Highly recommended.

Agreed! It’s on Amazon Prime.

Maybe I missed it, but it doesn't say how we used to think about cats, nor does it say how we think about them now. Rather disappointing.

Cats were more utilitarian, mostly used to keep vermin away, and their status or popularity as pets was lesser than that of dogs.

There are some passages in the movie suggesting that Societies of cat lovers were almost underground organisations at the time.

Louis Wain changed that perception with his extremely popular (and long lived) art.

I somehow doubt that it really changed that much. People have been quite affectionate with cats for a long time. Though we still have a very wide range of relationships with cats from affectionate to basically wild animals people feed.

The guy who invented "kitty litter" probably had much more to do with the increase in feline popularity.

Singer Nick Cave on Wain and his involvement in the film

Cave's role was just bizarre. As the movie starts you hear an Australian voice reading out a letter, so I wondered who the Australian connection in Wain's life was. Then much later you see Nick Cave reading out the letter, looking and sounding like Nick Cave, but evidently supposed to be HG Wells. Very weird casting, even in a movie mostly about madness. It just didn't work at all, I thought. That was the one thing in the movie that stuck out as strange/bad. I've no idea what they were thinking.

There's the sticker pack for Tg: https://t.me/addstickers/WainKots

Nah, Not even close to how Granlund and Stallman changed our definition of cat
