Just checked. Sure enough, conspicuously turned on my default, even though every other option in the privacy settings was turned off. I'm guessing I've been in there before.

Bastards.

Is this only for Verizon Mobile customers, or are Verizon FiOS customers affected as well?

Verizon FiOS is actually more invasive.

They share data by default freely with others like Nielsen Ratings.

How does this mesh with iOS new private cloud relay service? Guessing that Verizon sees nothing?

Akamai sees it instead.

Jokes aside though, the article is light on details of what Verizon actually collects. I doubt they’re decrypting TLS sessions. So their data collection is probably heavily reliant on DNS queries. Does private relay include DNS?
