It’s almost like Catholic leadership acknowledges the concept of religion to be a scam, as true believers wouldn’t do or defend evil shit. Huh.

Potentially bad apples in the leadership does not equate with Catholics, nor does it equate with Christians as a whole.

When the leadership of an organized religion take steps to protect their interests over the interests of those they’ve harmed, it’s the organization to blame, not the parishioners.

My point was that by behaving the way they did, they undermine the beliefs and goals of the religion to the point that they obviously do not believe the religion they represent.

While Catholics may be “good” or “bad”, the church is a scam. That is obvious by the actions of the church. Catholics could change that or pretend it’s not true and carry on.

It’s almost like people who are trapped in an abusive relationship. It’s actually much worse.

After all the crap the Catholic church has pulled, I really don't understand why members continue to fund such a corrupt organization.

As a US citizen, I have to pay taxes and fund the government, unless I want to move to another country. But donations to a church are voluntary. It's not like there are a few bad eggs in the church; the whole organization is corrupt.

So they are going after the people who operated the schools, but what about the people who contracted the church to do so?
