I'm not sure about the current version, but Oracle jdk 8 had a few classes that weren't available in openjdk, we had to switch some cryptography calls to bouncycastle in our migration iirc



Since Java 9, Oracle JDK is OpenJDK with some extra oracle stuff inside.


"Extra Oracle stuff" sounds like a great reason to avoid it.


I tend to avoid things with "Oracle stuff" period
