I do not know why they do not give credits, nor mention that they use LXC behind the scenes [1].

Why do they need to? Sure it'll be nice, but depending on your market, maybe that's an unnecessary implementation detail.

They do mention

"Waydroid uses Linux namespaces (user, pid, uts, net, mount, ipc) to run a full…" [see main page]

when in fact they simply use LXD, which uses all these features. Besides, it is a project dependency, which is not mentioned anywhere.

Edit: clarity.

LXC, not LXD.

Oops, yes, LXC.

We figured mentioning it in the docs under dependencies was enough (https://docs.waydro.id/usage/install-on-desktops). We will add it to the website instructions as well then to make things more clear.

Thanks for clarifying, I haven’t seen it previously.

Have you considered adding support for other container systems like systemd-nspawn or Kata Containers?

We are working with a few community members to support as many systems as possible RN. On down the road, there might be aossibility of supporting different container methods, but for now, we are focusing our efforts on using LXC

I am, of course, not naive enough to think that there's a good chance of it happening -- but I nevertheless strongly feel this way about every large tech company that isn't Microsoft not mentioning that they use Linux.
