Seems pretty cool. A little pricey and maybe even overpowered. The biggest thing that holds me back from hosting my own server is probably lack of static IP and the time/cognitive overhead of maintenance/security.

For IP, you can get a domain adress from namecheap then set up dynamic DNS (https://www.namecheap.com/support/knowledgebase/article.aspx...). Maintenance/security.. log in from time to time and run 'apt update && apt upgrade' ?

residential IP addresses are generally blacklisted by email services

yeah but so are AWS ips

Ive been using aws ip’s to send emails all the time Never had one flagged because of ip reputation.

Both using ses and directly sending emails via a aws vps

Wow. That honestly surprises me. I had been using Linode for my mail servers because of better IP rep

we have blocks of AWS IPs with no issues and we also have our own IP blocks

I use https://hoppy.network/ for a static IP via WireGuard for $8/month. And https://mailinabox.email/ has made email administration super simple.

Have been hosting home servers behind DynamicDNS for 5 years now. Have never had any issues because of it. E.g. Namecheap supports the protocol - no need for extra subscription.

But are you hosting your own emails? That's the important thing here. Everything else is fine, but hosting and operating a custom email service is hard if you want to also reach other people's inboxes.
