My home has an air circulator that’s designed to pull in fresh air every hour.

As it’s drawn in it passes through a heat exchanger so the air coming in is nearly the same temperature as the air inside the house.

This means the house stays cool/warm without much addictions energy required.

I’m sure larger buildings have similar features but it’s a really great system to have if you find yourself building a new home.

I've heard of those devices before, but is there any way to bypass the heat exchanger section, like when the outside temperature is more preferable?

Most people just open the windows for that use case: a whole house fan can be used for making the air exchange faster through.

You can turn it off or run it less frequently.
