Ah thanks. I wasn't sure what this project was, but this particular update was very interesting regardless.


This is the first hardware Kickstarter I've backed, and I've been really impressed with the frequency and depth of their updates. Makes me very excited for the final product.


I’ve been in a slow rabbit hole of fascination about all the steps of modern manufacturing and machining and this post is excellent! The detail about getting the matte finish on the plastic surface from acid etching is a detail I’ve never seen before!


agreed. it was amazing seeing all the little defects and recognizing having seen them on various (mostly cheap) items i've come across in the past.


Yeah. I’ve been slowly digging into this stuff as a mostly intellectual hobby the past 3-4 years and some of the nuances of mold making and process quality I’ve never seen spoken or written about anywhere. Maybe there’s a good quality textbook about this stuff but I’ve never seen one referenced.
