Check out and criticise my business idea

Been working on a business idea for about a year now and I recently bought ads. I haven't gotten any conversions yet and I wonder if it's because of my business idea or because of the ads.

Here is my idea : My website is very simple, go on, create an account then login. On my website you can message your friends (send friend requests and create group chats), talk about games you enjoy in forums, and play free online games. For the moment it doesn't generate any revenue. But the idea is to get many users, and then try to convert into something more like Steam.

Tell me what you think of my idea! What you think of it etc... My website is thedevie.com Thanks

Congrats on making it this far! Please accept that I'm being critical to try to help.

---

I already have ways to message my friends, this adds no value there.

I MIGHT want to tell my friends if there were some novel games we could go on your site and play together. The one game shown when I scroll aaaaaall the way down is... the blockracer tutorial people make for their first unity game? But I can't even play it! Zero chance of me making an account without playing games first. Give users value before asking for something from them in return.

Is your business idea that you'll be a game studio?

Thanks for the feedback! My idea for messaging is to play off the unity of messaging, gaming and forums together in 1 place.

My business idea is not that I'll be a game studio, for now I just want users to use my users. Once I have say, 1 million users, I'll try to convert to a more game publisher feel.

And 1 little question, if I let users play games, why would they signup?

Answering that question is really the core of designing this service, isn't it?

I have signed up for game sites before, sites that let me play and invest my time and attention in a game - I created accounts with those sites to save my progress. There have also been cases of making an account to access multiplayer features in games I beat the single player campaign for.

The real key is the games.

Maybe showcase what games a user can play before signing up.

Good idea!
