Well, the servers are owned by the sponsors, and the sponsors have informal agreements with the staffers who are no longer with Freenode. Freenode Ltd (which apparently will cease to exist in a few weeks due to Lee's lack of taking care of company admin) apparently owns the domain name. Lee owns Freenode Ltd. Other than that there is nothing to own.
