Whenever I can I listen to podcasts on their original websites. But there's usually one downside: their players are bad (seeking, skipping forwards/backwards)

(I am also aware that bandwidth/deployment is not so easy for small producers)

Usually the MP3 source file is exposed on the web page. Sometimes I can right click and hit "Save as" and download the file directly (works on mobile too).

Other times I have to use an extension like DownloadHelper that locates the file path in the DOM and downloads it.

I don't get this one. Isn't that extraordinarily easy when you're small? Host it on a raspberry pi at home if you have fiber, or if you need to pay for bandwidth that's on the order of $5 for 10k downloads, assuming 100 minutes of 128kbps mp3 (insert napkin math disclaimer).
