This requires your supervisor to think about what they want you to do for more than five minutes and send you an email defining what they want, which can be used as evidence when it turns out it's not what was actually needed.
There's lots of human behavioural issues that need to be sorted out.
But the idea that someone in Burkina Fasso can do a job like this for US$1 a day is nonsense.

On the other hand, rather than work from home, I'd much rather walk or cycle 10 minutes to a generic secure, shared office space overlooking a local park than commute through a large city for an hour.
We do this to a large degree with set office hours for questions and most meetings. Personally I get more work done once the sun has set and churn out the "best" work then. "Best" being the fewest silly mistakes and it works as expected the first time.
