Windows Terminal now included as an inbox app on Windows (windows.com)

Am I the only one who absolutely hate these low-density touch based apps?

I'm asking it seems to be getting worse every day. This "padding" they added to Windows Explorer. It's awful.

Why couldn't they just make the address bar less tall instead? Is this a UWP limitation?

File Explorer is not UWP, so.... is a design choice. And you can use compact mode on UWP even.

The address bar and search box are uwp xaml islands facades.

AKA Windows now includes Windows Terminal by default.

Yea, I'm realizing now that isn't immediately obvious from the headline.

This means that users won't have to go to the Store to download the terminal - it'll just be included with Windows.

I know you're one of the Terminal authors from GitHub - a pity the title isn't better as your work would get a lot more attention for the announcement.

See it's weird - we've been referring to shipping the Terminal with Windows as "shipping in-box" ever since we started working on the Terminal two years ago, and none of us ever thought that sounded strange. Apparently, "shipping inbox" is a Microsoft-ism that's not as common externally.

I'm definitely learning from this and hopefully future announcements will be clearer (though, it's not like our team has anything else to ship with Windows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
