Chinese VPNs Are Recording World Data on a Scale (strikesource.com)

Why is this news? I had always thought the People's Republic of China and the Great Firewall were doing this. If they weren't at some point they would. Control hinges on controlling information -- or maybe it doesn't, either way, there's not going to be a revolution to overthrow the Party anytime soon. I figure citizens have just resigned to the idea that they're being watched and evaluated on a daily basis and just find a way to go on with their lives.

Scan the article. ExpressVPN is a Chinese company. Lots of users in the USA. Claims it doesn't keep logs, but it does. Agree with you otherwise.

Read the article, don't just scan it. ExpressVPN is a Hong Kong company, specifically. (Maybe that doesn't matter to Americans, but it does to Mainlanders.) The VPN company that claimed not to keep logs but did was UFO VPN, unrelated to ExpressVPN.

Yikes. I can’t use ExpressVPN then. I’m a PrivateInternetAccess customer. Pretty happy with the service. Though you can never trust a company beholden to laws and things not to log: they just log.
