A link off the Twitter site wouldn't get as many reads, and I believe if you have a good Titter client it will thread the messages for you.



That's true, but then it's not a twitter link to a document. It's a client accessing an API. It's an application. There's no real good way to view twitter as a document. Replacing twitter.com with nitter.net is okay but still tedious and it is doing the heavy lifting of being the application.
