I'm looking for examples of really non generic looking news websites, if there are any!

https://www.usatoday.com/ desktop site was leagues ahead of many news sites when it first launched around 2012, and might still be.

Haven’t judged its mobile site.

Some interesting stuff under the hood - it is very graphical but loads extremely fast, no ads or javascript
