Do any other smartphone shops plan to add lidar to their android models?


Many Android smartphones are available with "depth sensors" which tend to be useless. I'm not sure what the difference is between those and the iPhone lidar sensor but it has to be officially supported by Android if it's to be useful.


IIRC LG had a "laser" on one of their G phones a few years ago to improve autofocus speed.


I had an Asus Zenphone AR. Used it to 3d scan environments, worked quite well, until the screen died (they all have this defect)


The Note 10 5G and the Huawei P30 pro were the first with ToF on the rear in a mass market phone, I believe.
