I believe that some beer vendors have dabbled in can/bottle hybrids that are metal but with a screw-on cap.

These are known as crowlers (can growlers) and are meant to replace the 1L and 1.89L glass growlers that have gone out of fashion somewhat over the last couple years.

Crowlers look like oversized beverage cans, and come with either a pull tab (like a normal beverage can) or a resealable metal cap.

Note that all beverage cans have a plastic liner (epoxy usually).
