Looks like broken CSS or broken scrolljacking. If you hit "stop" before everything finishes loading, there is indeed content:
* A subscription box
* A big empty box with a big horizontal scrollbar
* The most recent issue of the newsletter (also accessible from the archive without this trick) (with this trick it also starts with HTML and CSS dumped to the page instead of interpreted)
