Yeah, but it requires porting apps, and if you're doing that anyway why not switch to a modern system without the decades of legacy cruft, like Wayland?



a) Because your toolkit was probably ported for you

b) Because Wayland is not widely deployed or even regarded as ready to use, so for now the X11 protocol is king

c) Because the poster was talking about xlib and X11, and that is what I was answering...
