Offtopic: techcrunch’ ux is weird, clicking x-button in the right top sends me to the homepage. I didn’t even open a modal, lol

Worse, if you try to copy the headline (like say, for HN) it closes. It's been that way for months.

Did they try to add a hotkey to C or something? Can't imagine what's going on there.

It's happening onMouseUp. Trying to copy the headline triggers that (after selecting the text), or simply clicking on it.

It seems the div has the same functionality as the X button. I assumed it was a mistake, but it's been so long now I wonder if it's intentional.

They also hijack the back button if you scroll down too far, even having not clicked anything

uMatrix has been preventing me from accessing TechCrunch for some time now since they now perform a full redirect to advertising.com. I can only assume it's because they want me to consent to a long list of privacy checkboxes or something. I just don't bother with them anymore.

If you come from Europe, TechCrunch is literally unreadable as they are blocking their content behind a full screen and buggy consent form that I cannot validate (also, that’s against GDPR rules, ...)
